The European Union is discussing possible sanctions against China over evidence that it first supplied Russia with weapons for use in a full-scale war against Ukraine.

Details: According to three FAZ sources, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell briefed member states on intelligence findings regarding arms shipments from Russia to China.
A high-ranking EU official said at a press briefing on Friday that the evidence is convincing and confirms “the provision of lethal weapons”.
It was not specified what exactly this evidence is. But back in September, the media reported on Western intelligence that indicated the secret supply of weapons to Russia from China. And the Reuters agency wrote about the fact that Russia has developed a weapons program in China for the development and production of long-range strike drones.
“Now we have to consider the whole toolkit,” the official said, adding that the EU may expand the sanctions list to ban doing business with Chinese companies, as well as owning assets and entering the European Union.
Another FAZ source said the EU’s reaction would depend on how China reacts to the evidence presented to it.
The European Union has previously discussed the introduction of sanctions against Chinese companies, but has so far refrained from such a step. Instead, in October, the USA first announced sanctions against China due to its military support for the Russian Federation.
