Massive Russian Attack Causes Casualties and Damage Across Ukraine

A large-scale assault by Russia on March 24 resulted in significant damage across 11 regions of Ukraine, leading to the deaths of four individuals and leaving dozens injured. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the details in a public address.

In cities like Zaporizhzhia and Poltava, residential buildings suffered damage, and fires broke out as a result of the strikes. Nearly 40 drones targeted the city of Shostka in the Sumy region, while a drone attack in Slatyne, Kharkiv Oblast, struck an electric train. The overall impact of the attack has been widespread, affecting multiple areas.

Zelensky expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and noted that recovery efforts are currently underway. He stated, “Overall, there were more than 390 strike drones and 34 missiles of various types, including ballistic, cruise, and guided aviation missiles. These figures clearly indicate the urgent need for enhanced protection against Russian strikes. It is crucial to continue supporting Ukraine and ensure that all agreements regarding air defense are fulfilled promptly. Additionally, Europe must be able to produce the necessary number of missiles for air defense to protect against any threats.”

During the night of March 24, Russia launched a combined attack targeting critical infrastructure in Ukraine, employing a total of 426 aerial assault assets, including strike drones and missiles from both air and ground platforms. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully intercepted 25 missiles and 365 drones during the assault.

Reports indicate that six missiles and 27 strike drones hit 22 locations, with debris from intercepted drones landing in 10 areas. Further information regarding three of the missiles is still being verified.

A coordinated Russian attack on March 24 resulted in casualties and extensive damage across Ukraine. President Zelensky emphasized the need for improved air defense and ongoing support from Europe in response to the escalating threats.
