During a briefing with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi, he said that the destruction of the missile took place at Kapustina Yar in Russia.
“Before this, we never announced it. But we can briefly and succinctly say that one of the three Oreshniks was successfully destroyed on their territory (the territory of the Russian Federation – ed.) on Kapustina Yar by the forces of the State Security Service, the SBU and the SZR,” he said.
The head of the SBU noted that “the destruction was one hundred percent, it was a very successful operation.”
“This was reported exclusively to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the President of Ukraine, several presidents of other countries also knew about it,” Vasyl Malyuk emphasized.
He also noted that the operation was carried out at a time “when, in principle, no one knew the name “Oreshnik” in general. At that time, the enemy did not particularly threaten with this weapon.
“If I’m not mistaken, we conducted this successful operation the summer before last,” Vasyl Malyuk specified.
In the comment of the Head of State in the press service of the SBU, it was specified that the missile, which was in the hangar and was almost ready for launch, was destroyed on the night of July 8-9, 2024.
At the same time, after a briefing with the participation of Vasyl Malyuk, the Main Directorate of Intelligence stated that according to the results of the secret operation one of the three “Oreshnik” missile systems of the aggressor state was destroyed on the territory of the specified range.
We will remind you that on the morning of November 21, 2024, the Russians attacked the Dnipro with a medium-range Oreshnik missile. Russian President Vladimir Putin later declared that it was a test launch of the “newest missile”. Later, it became known that shortly before the Oreshnik launch, the Russian Federation warned the USA about a missile attack on Ukraine.
As you know, the announced range of the Russian Oreshnik missile reaches 5,500 km. The flight speed of the development is estimated to be 10-11 Mach.
