Madrid to Host Controversial ‘Global Forum on Ukraine Revival’ Organized by Russian Lawyer

A private event titled “Global Forum on Ukraine Revival” is set to take place in Madrid on February 25, organized by Alexander Preditkevich, a Russian lawyer linked to the Russian embassy in Spain and pro-Russian foundations.

According to reports from “European Truth,” the forum is a commercial event with an entry fee. The organizers initially used Ukrainian symbols, including the presidential standard, for promotional purposes.

The Ukrainian embassy in Spain confirmed that it did not provide any state support for the event and did not authorize the use of Ukraine’s name, logos, or official symbols in its promotion. Following this clarification, the organizers removed the state symbols from their promotional materials.

Preditkevich is associated with the recently established Rotary Club Madrid Intercontinental Passport and is listed as a lawyer for Russian citizens in Spain as of 2024. He is also connected to the so-called “Foundation for the Protection of the Russian World,” which is linked to the Russian government.

In a statement to “European Truth,” Preditkevich claimed that he was added to the list of lawyers by the Russian embassy before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 and that he had requested to be removed from this list. He also mentioned a partnership with the Association of Cities of Ukraine, which has not yet commented on this claim.

Additionally, Preditkevich has been publicly recognized by SORS (Union of Russian Compatriots in Spain and Andorra) in 2021, where he was explicitly noted as associated with the “Russian House in Alicante.” Spanish media have investigated this organization, which reportedly received funding from the sanctioned Russian “Pravfond.” The president of Pravfond, Alexander Chepurnoy, has also been under EU sanctions since 2023 and has sent reports to Russia regarding influence campaigns in Spain.

The Ukrainian community in Spain was the first to raise concerns about the “Global Forum on Ukraine Revival” and its organizer, highlighting that Russia is deliberately orchestrating such events in European countries through its representatives to further its influence.

A private event in Madrid, organized by a Russian lawyer with ties to pro-Russian groups, has raised concerns among the Ukrainian community. The Ukrainian embassy confirmed no state support was provided for the event, which initially misused Ukrainian symbols for promotion.
