The press secretary of the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Natalya Eismont, denies that Oleksandr Lukashenko apologized to the head of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, during a phone conversation that took place in the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in February 2022.

Details: Speaker Lukashenka confirmed that she had a conversation with Zelenskyi in the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. According to her, it took place “exclusively thanks to the emotional reaction of Lukashenka’s youngest son Mykola, who had Zelensky’s personal contact in his phone.”
Direct speech: “What was the essence of that conversation: our president first of all talked about the fact that the conflict broke out on the territory of Ukraine, on the territory of Zelenskyi, and after a while he will have to be more responsible than anyone else for the deaths of people! That is why our president called to sit down to the negotiating table, which was done: 3 rounds of negotiations in Belarus and then Istanbul.
The President of Belarus did not ask for any apology from Zelensky, for the simple reason that we have nothing to apologize for.”
What preceded: In an interview with the American podcaster Lex Friedman, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that on the second or third day of the full-scale war, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, apologized in a telephone conversation for the strikes on Ukraine by Russian missiles from Belarusian territory and offered to strike the Mozyr Oil Refinery in response.
