Lithuania will allocate € 30 million for Patriot Patriots for Ukraine

The Lithuanian Defense Minister Radly Shakaliene has reported the intention of her country’s government to provide up to 30 million euros for the purchase of Patrioot anti-aircraft missile systems for Ukraine. This decision is part of a broader agreement between NATO European members and the United States to supply weapons to Kiev. The statement was heard after the meeting of the Baltic States with the US Secretary of Defense by US Secretary of Defense. According to Shakaliene, Lithuania supports the purchase of weapons for Ukraine in the United States and considers the financing of Patriot systems as a strategic signal of supporting President Donald Trump’s decision.

In mid -July, Trump announced an agreement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, according to which European allies have to buy American weapons for Ukraine.

Earlier, it became known that the US Department of Defense discusses bilateral agreements on the supply of US Patrioot to Ukraine with a number of countries. In addition, according to the Minister of Defense of Germany, the United States and Germany agreed to the transfer of five air defense systems to Ukraine by Patriot “as soon as possible”.
