Details: Minister of Internal Affairs Vladyslav Kondratovych was appointed by the government as the head of state operations during the state of emergency.

“It should be noted that the declaration of a state of emergency throughout the country will not cause any inconvenience to the population, as the measures taken will be targeted and proportionate and will be directed exclusively against the organizers and perpetrators of illegal actions,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the state of emergency will allow the departments to coordinate their actions even more closely and to involve military units to help.
What happened before:
- At the beginning of December, the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ruginene, said that she may close the border with Belarus again if the smuggling of balloons continues to enter the country. However, according to her, this step must be coordinated with the United States.
- It should be noted that on Saturday, December 6, the airport in Vilnius announced the suspension of operations due to signs of the launch of weather probes from the territory of Belarus.
- On December 9, law enforcement officers in Lithuania seized five more weather probes that were used to transport smuggled Belarusian cigarettes.
