Prehistory:
- The White House stated that an initiative to meet between US and Russia presidents during a meeting of Special Supporter Steve Witcoff in Moscow came from the Russian side.
- Subsequently, the media, citing the White House sources, reported that the US President and the ruler of Russia will meet on a combined military base of Elmandorf-Richardson in Anchorji, Alaska.
- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Alaska Summit is not a victory for the Kremlin and should not be perceived as Putin’s concession. According to him, the meeting will be familiar in nature, during which Trump wants to give his own assessment of the situation “looking at this person in the eye.”
- At the same time, Rubio acknowledged that the negotiations will be difficult because “this war is very important for Putin.”
