“Only Member States can take loans within an instrument for 150 billion euros, but they can use these funds for joint purchases with Ukraine, including purchases in the Ukrainian defense for the needs of the Armed Forces,” he added.
The commissioner emphasized that the Ukrainian industry “receives an equal treatment with the European defense industry for the first time.”
“And of those 650 billion that are assigned to national defense expenditures, some can also be spent on weapons for Ukraine. It will be a decision of the Member States,” Kubilus said.
