The Kremlin has issued a warning regarding the potential use of European Union airspace for Ukrainian drone operations targeting Russia. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian president, stated that Moscow would take appropriate measures if such actions were to occur.
Peskov emphasized that Russian military forces are closely monitoring the situation and analyzing developments. He remarked, “If there is a provision of airspace for hostile terrorist activities against the Russian Federation, this will compel us to draw appropriate conclusions and take necessary measures.”
This statement follows claims from Poland’s military leadership on March 31, which dismissed rumors of Polish airspace being utilized for Ukrainian operations against Russia as false. Additionally, Estonia has labeled similar assertions circulating within Russian media as disinformation.
On March 27, Latvia’s Ministry of Defence warned of a coordinated information campaign by Russia targeting the Baltic states, including Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, in relation to these claims.
The Kremlin has signaled potential repercussions if EU airspace is used for Ukrainian drone attacks. This comes amid denials from Poland and Estonia regarding the validity of such claims, with Latvia warning of a Russian disinformation campaign.
