“According to the KMIS survey, 35% of Ukrainians said that there is a lack of democracy in Ukraine under conditions of war and martial law. At the same time, 36% believe that there is now as much democracy as there should be, and 16% believe that there is too much of it.”, — write: www.pravda.com.ua

Literally: “Considering that there is now a war and martial law, 36% believe that there is as much democracy in the country as there should be in such conditions. Another 16% believe that there is even too much democracy. At the same time, a third of Ukrainians (35%) believe that there is not enough democracy now. The remaining 14% could not decide on their opinion.”

KMIS scheduleDetails: For those who believe that democracy is not enough, sociologists asked an additional open question about the reasons.
issue of KMISIt is noted that people most often associated the lack of democracy with the impossibility of criticizing the government or restricting freedom of speech (19%), the activities of the TCC (17%), the fact that the interests of ordinary people are not taken into account or people are unprotected (16%), lawlessness, violation of laws and excess of powers by the government (15%), as well as corruption (15%).
KMIS scheduleKMIS noted that they were talking about the absence of elections – 1% The institute also emphasized that 6% of the total population are those who believe that democracy is not enough, and explain this by the actions of the TCC.
The study lasted from January 23 to 29. 1003 respondents over the age of 18, who at the time of the survey lived in the territory of Ukraine, which was controlled by the government of Ukraine, were interviewed by the method of telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile numbers. The sample did not include residents of territories that are temporarily not controlled by the authorities of Ukraine (at the same time, part of the respondents are IDPs who moved from the occupied territories), and the survey was not conducted with citizens who went abroad after February 24, 2022.
Formally, under normal circumstances, the statistical error of such a sample (with a probability of 0.95 and taking into account the design effect of 1.3) did not exceed 4.1%. At the same time, for the question of trust in President Zelensky, an experiment was conducted, where half of the respondents (i.e., about 500) were asked an ordinary direct question (to what extent the respondent trusts or does not trust), and the other half – using the “imagined acquaintance” method (people were asked whether this imaginary acquaintance of theirs trusts the president). Therefore, for this question, the error does not exceed 5.8%.
Under the conditions of war, in addition to the specified formal error, a certain systematic deviation is added, but sociologists believe that the obtained results still retain high representativeness and allow a fairly reliable analysis of the public mood of the population.
We will remind:
According to the survey sociological group “Rating”held in October-December 2023, 64% of Ukrainians believe that “democracy may have its shortcomings, but this – the best system of government”. This is the sixth indicator among the countries under study.
