According to the agency, the following indicators of air pollution are observed at stationary air monitoring points in Kyiv:
- on European Union Avenue, 64-G – general air quality index – 59 (average level of pollution);
- at 20 Shchuseva Street, the overall air quality index is 69 (average level);
- on Turivska Street, 28 – quality index 62 (average level);
- at 97 Beresteyskyi Avenue – quality index 44 (low level);
- at 22 Chinaivska Street – quality index 81 (high level of pollution);
- on Kharkiv highway, 7/1 – quality index 81 (high level);
- on Architektora Verbytskoho Street, 26 – air quality index 76 (high level).
Forecasters expect that the dust situation will last until Friday, when the direction of the wind in Ukraine will change to the south and west. Dust will reach Ukraine in waves, that is, improvements will alternate with deterioration of visibility and air quality.
On the morning of September 20, the Kyiv City State Administration warned of worsening air conditions in the capital of Ukraine, linking it to fires in the Kyiv region. The regional administration reported fires in peat bogs, grass beds and forest litter in Vyshgorod, Brovar, Obukhiv and Boryspil districts.
According to the KMDA, at that time air pollution in Kyiv exceeded the limit of permissible concentrations by five times.
