Kyiv will start the heating season in the housing stock on October 29, Mayor Vitalii Klychko announced.

“In the question of the start of the heating period, the city took into account key factors – weather conditions, rational use of fuel, ensuring sanitary temperature parameters in houses and reducing the load on the power grid,” he wrote.

Klitschko reminded that the deployment of the heat supply system technologically requires up to 7 days. “And, taking into account the further decrease in temperature, the city authorities made a decision to start supplying heat to the homes of Kyiv residents,” the mayor of the capital noted.

For hospitals, schools, kindergartens and other institutions of the social sphere, the beginning of the heating season was available from October 3 – upon individual requests of managers.

On October 25, Minister of Energy Svitlana Grynchuk said that the decision on the start of the heating season is made by each region independently, but with a decrease in temperature, it may start in the coming days.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, said that this year’s heating season will be the most difficult in all the years of the full-scale war.

Last week, the government allocated 8.4 billion hryvnias from the reserve fund of the state budget for the heating season, and the company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” will receive these funds for the purchase of imported natural gas.

According to the legislation, the heating period begins no later than when the average daily outdoor air temperature for three days is 8 degrees Celsius or lower, and ends no earlier than when the average daily outdoor temperature exceeds 8 degrees Celsius for three days.
