Details: According to Kislytsa, who was present in the hall as part of the Ukrainian delegation, the meeting was “tense” but “productive” and ended with a carefully revised draft document that left both sides with a “positive” impression.

He said that after hours of careful negotiations in Geneva, the American and Ukrainian teams reached an agreement on several issues, but “put in parentheses” the most controversial points.
In particular, it is about territorial issues and relations between NATO, Russia and the USA. These issues were left to be resolved between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to Kyslytsia, the new project bears little resemblance to the previously published version of the peace proposal, which caused a stormy reaction in Kyiv. “There is very little left of the original version,” he said.
“We have developed a solid basis for converging positions and several points on which we can compromise. Other issues will require management decisions,” he added.
Kyslytsia said that the Americans were attentive, willingly listened to the Ukrainians’ point of view and were open to suggestions. “Almost everything we proposed was taken into account,” he assured.
Kyslytsia noted that the American side seems ready to abandon the proposal to limit the size of the Ukrainian army to 600,000 people. He said that American negotiators carefully listened to Ukraine’s arguments and agreed to take these points into account.
“They agreed that the size of the Ukrainian army in the leaked version (of the project), whoever authored it, is no longer discussed,” he said.
The proposal for a general amnesty for potential war crimes in the original draft was reworked to take into account “the grievances of those who suffered during the war,” he said.
He repeatedly praised the “constructive engagement” of the American team, singling out Rubio, Driscoll and Kushner: “They never said, ‘We’re not going to discuss it.’ We thoroughly discussed all the issues.”
What happened before:
- After negotiations in Geneva, as a result of which Trump’s team made adjustments to the initial version of the “peace plan”, the number of points in it was reduced to 19.
- After talks in Geneva, the US and Ukraine said they had developed an “updated” peace document.
