“We want to expand the corridors of military mobility to Ukraine. This would be a guarantee of security, which means that we could provide faster support in case of need,” Kallas said.

Ukraine is also repeatedly mentioned in the draft of the new EU Regulation on military mobility, the text of which “European Truth” was able to read.

Note that on November 17, the Regulation was submitted to the Council of the EU and the European Parliament for adoption under the usual legislative procedure.

“It is vital for the security interests of the EU that the provisions of the Regulation are applied in the candidate countries for accession (to the EU – “EU”), especially in Ukraine and Moldova. In this context, the level of coherence of the common foreign and security policy of the candidate countries should be taken into account,” the document says.

The regulation will offer Ukraine significant advantages: improvement of the dual purpose transport infrastructure, streamlining of rules for the transportation of military equipment and border crossing procedures throughout Europe.

“These measures will contribute to the faster movement of military aid in the direction of Ukraine and to the eastern borders of the Union. Together, these efforts can help strengthen the stability of logistical ties between Ukraine and the Union and will contribute to the broader goals of strengthening European security and defense,” the authors of the document emphasize.

“Russia’s war against Ukraine provides invaluable lessons for the EU, its member states and partners in the field of military mobility. The group on military transport and mobility can invite Ukraine, Moldova and the countries of the European Economic Area as observers in order to use their valuable military experience and prepare Ukraine for its future membership in the EU,” the European Commission also suggests.

As “European Truth” reported, in the EU on November 19 presented the “military Schengen” project for the rapid movement of troops across the territory of Europe.

The day before, eight European countries signed protocol on intentions to ensure military mobility.

October 16 European Commission presented a road map defense readiness of the EU until 2030.
