Details: According to Johnson, after Scholz’s conversation with Putin, there is a risk of a return to the “Normandy format” – negotiations regarding the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which were aimed at a peaceful settlement and in which Germany and France also participated.

He also shared the opinion of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi regarding the current situation.

“I’m afraid that Volodymyr Zelenskyi is absolutely right. We risk returning to the terrible Franco-German Normandy format, which considered Russia and Ukraine as equal interlocutors in an internal dispute,” Johnson said.

He emphasized that it was Putin who launched the full-scale invasion, and “Ukraine is a completely innocent party.”

“The only way to end this war is to massively and quickly strengthen Ukraine’s position,” Johnson summed up.

It will be recalled that on the afternoon of November 15, it became known that Olaf Scholz spoke with the head of the Kremlin for the first time in two years.

According to the media, the conversation was initiated by Scholz, and preparations for it lasted “weeks” in close coordination with the G7 countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, commenting on the conversation, emphasized that it is not beneficial for achieving peace and only gives the head of the Russian Federation hope for easing isolation, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Sholtz’s call to Putin “Pandora’s box.”
