The former Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, called the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin a *** idiot” because of his imperialist views. He said this in an interview with the Delfi publication published on Saturday, January 11.
In particular, the journalist asked Johnson to explain his words that he would allegedly have been able to prevent a full-scale war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine if he had become prime minister earlier.
Johnson said that he would first urge allies to make Ukraine a member of NATO.

“What is it? Is Ukraine a part of the West or the Russian sphere of influence? And I think the most important thing is what we need to convey to Putin [російського диктатора] is that Russia is no longer an empire and it’s over,” Johnson said.
The ex-prime minister also recalled the imperial past of Great Britain and added that “practically nothing remains” of it at present.
“What Putin is doing is archaic and barbaric, and he should understand that Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania – none of these countries are part of the Russian Empire anymore, and the same goes for Ukraine. Everything is over. There is no more empire, Volodymyr, you fucking idiot! Sorry for the expression. But that’s the way it is,” added Johnson.
In October, the British tabloid Daily Express, referring to the book War by The Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, wrote that Johnson called the Russian dictator Putin “creepy” and “little scum”, and also tried to convince him in 2021 that Ukraine would not join NATO in the near future and Russia has no reason to invade.

According to Woodward, during a phone conversation with Putin in the fall of 2021, Johnson said that he had no reason to attack Ukraine, because “there is no way Ukraine will join NATO in the near future.”
The phone conversation took place after the G20 summit in Rome in October 2021, during which world leaders were secretly briefed on the threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
