President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi believes that today’s conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is Pandora’s box.

In his evening video message, Zelensky emphasized that the chancellor warned him about the call to Putin.

“Olaf’s call, in my opinion, is Pandora’s box,” — President Zelenskyi.

The Ukrainian president warned that such cases are what Putin wants.

“And this is exactly what Putin has wanted for a long time: it is extremely important for him to weaken his isolation, Russia’s isolation, and conduct normal negotiations that will not end in anything. As he has done for decades. This gave Russia the opportunity not to change anything in its policy, not to do anything in substance, and this is exactly what led to this war,” Zelenskyy said.

What is known about Scholz’s phone conversation with Putin

On November 15, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had a telephone conversation with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for the first time in almost two years.

In the conversation, Scholz condemned the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and called on Putin to withdraw his troops. The chancellor also called on Russia to be ready for negotiations with Ukraine in order to achieve a just and lasting peace”.

Scholz also stated that Germany is ready to help Ukraine as much as it will be needed. Before the conversation with Putin, Scholz also spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

It is currently unknown how long the phone conversation lasted and what topics were discussed. However, DW, citing the dpa agency, claims that the conversation lasted about an hour.

According to Reuters, Zelensky warned Chancellor Scholz against calling Putin.
