OpenAI is considering building its own web browser to pair with its ChatGPT AI chatbot.
OpenAI is thinking about creating its own browser and has been in talks with website and application developers like Conde Nast, Redfin, Eventbrite and Priceline about it, The Information reports.
OpenAI also discussed the possibility of using artificial intelligence functions on devices manufactured by Samsung, a key business partner of Google. In addition, Sam Altman’s company has already begun to compete with Google, which owns the lion’s share of the browser and web search market, by entering the market with the SearchGPT product.
OpenAI’s plans became known at a time when Google’s position in the market is becoming less and less stable. The US Department of Justice is demanding that the company sell its Chrome browser to comply with antitrust laws.
