Russian dictator Vladimir Putin offered to organize “the duel of the XXI century” — to choose a place in Kyiv where the Russian Federation will launch the Oreshnyk missile, and Western countries will supply the best air defense equipment there — to see who is better.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted cynically “idea”, calling Russians scumbags, and the head of the Kremlin – a “dol***bom”.
Putin was fooling around, is he out of his mind, or should this be seen as a real invitation to Western countries to make Ukraine a training ground, Oleksandr Morozov, political scientist, researcher at Charles University, explained on Radio NV (m. Prague).
It was certainly a very cynical form. This is a demonstration of the extreme forms of Putin’s cynicism — in the form in which there was talk of launching a ballistic missile at Kyiv, on a specific target, etc.
But, in my opinion, if you take this seriously, Putin is simply announcing the next phase of the missile war in 2025. And this is a multifaceted situation.
“The time has come.” Putin boasted that he was “deeply immersed” in the development of Oreshnyk and supported its testing in combat conditions
First of all, the Kremlin is well aware that they are continuously discussing the issue of the fact that in 2025 the restrictions for Ukraine regarding missile strikes on Russian territory will be finally lifted. In such a situation, the Kremlin becomes an object of attack, simply put, and Putin’s residence, and all these bunkers, and decision-making centers.
That is, the restriction is currently in effect (we see it perfectly), which refers to the military infrastructure close to the front. Putin is preparing for this, it is obvious. That is why he says that “you’re going to hit on.’

And it must be said that in some sense of the word, indeed, the permission to strike the decision-making centers in Russia brings the end of the war closer. This is undoubtedly so, because the next phase of escalation brings the end of the war closer, not further away.
“Putin’s death will not change the regime.” How the war will end or what its “freeze” can be – a detailed analysis by Pavel Klimkin
For his part, Putin simply announces that 2025 will be the year of anti-missile defense and the use of new missiles. And this poses a question to Ukraine and to the alliance supporting Ukraine – not to simply laugh at Putin’s words, which are truly disgusting and cynical, because this is the form of an offer precisely in a sporting form, that is, in the form of some kind of match. But this should be taken seriously, because there is no doubt that in 2025, the anti-missile and anti-aircraft defense of Ukraine should be significantly strengthened, on the one hand.
On the other hand, I think that the Kremlin should prepare for the fact that if 2024 is marked by successful strikes on oil storage facilities in Russia or on military airfields, which have already become an achievable goal, then Putin has something to worry about. And he expressed it in this way.
