The legendary Ukrainian boxer Volodymyr Klitschko refused the election to the post of head of World Boxing.

Klitschko refused to race for Borys Van der Warsta’s successor, who is not running for the second term as a President of the International Boxing Federation.

Thus, Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin is now a major candidate for replacement of the Dutch, at the time when it is necessary to prepare the organization for the Olympics in Los Angeles.

It is noted that Klitschka upset the fact that information about his plans to run for the post of President of World Boxing has leaked into the media. In addition, it became known that Golovkin’s candidacy has the support of the International Olympic Committee.

“Golovkin retained the support of the IOC. This convinced the exchmpion of the world in the high weight that this struggle is not worth the continuation,” McKay wrote.

The elections will be held in November.

World Boxing is an international organization that regulates amateur boxing. It was created in 2023 so that boxing does not lose the status of the Olympic sport after the IOC conflict with the IBA pro -Russian conflict.

Ukraine became a member of World Boxing only on September 23.
