Details: According to the unnamed interlocutor, the meeting will make it possible to make commitments on 5 points: a ceasefire and monitoring of its observance, continued support for the armed forces of Ukraine, the format for the deployment of multinational forces on the territory of Ukraine, commitments regarding the actions of allies in the event of a new Russian aggression against Ukraine, and long-term defense cooperation.

The main idea of the leaders’ meeting is to make decisions about possible actions within the “coalition of the determined” and their further coordination with the American side.
In particular, the leaders will discuss the modalities of the ceasefire, which are not security guarantees: how the demarcation line will be monitored, controlled and verified.
An official of the Elysée Palace emphasized that there will be no Western military presence on the demarcation line, “because we are talking about a line of 1,400 km, and the presence of soldiers on the line does not make sense either tactically or strategically.”
“It is very important that we have all the technical means to monitor the situation on the ground: drones, satellites, etc. But first of all, that we – Americans, Europeans and Ukrainians – clearly understand what we should do in the event of a ceasefire violation,” emphasized the representative of the administration of French President Emmanuel Macron.
“In addition to this, there are two other very important things in security guarantees. The first is the continuation of support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the long term, to prevent a future attack. The second is the deployment of multinational forces to support Ukraine in the air, at sea and on land, as well as the training and rehabilitation of Ukrainian troops,” he said.
We will remind:
- On Tuesday, January 6, a meeting of the leaders of the member states of the “coalition of the determined” will take place in Paris, which should finalize security guarantees for Ukraine from this coalition.
- Advisor and special envoy of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, will come to France for the meeting from the US side. In addition, the son-in-law of the American leader, Jared Kushner, who is also a member of the negotiating team as part of the peace process, will join the event.
- The European Commission reminded that the main guarantee of Kyiv’s security from the European Union as an association is the prospect of Ukraine joining the EU.
