Analysts drew attention to the statement of the former head of Roscosmos and the so-called “senator” from the occupied part of the Zaporizhia region of Ukraine, Dmytro Rogozin, who said on January 19 that the Russian unit “BARS-Sarmat” (reserve of the Russian combat army) is recruiting specialists and unqualified men and women from of all of Russia to participate in hostilities in Ukraine.
“This announcement follows recent Russian publicity campaigns highlighting the recruitment of Russian women into various combat units of the Russian armed forces,” ISW said.
The day before, the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain said that the year 2024 brought the biggest losses for Russia since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
