Details: According to the source, cooperation between Moscow and Tehran began even before the full-scale invasion: the first contracts for the supply of missiles were concluded in October 2021.

The $2.7 billion package included hundreds of Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles, nearly 500 other short-range ballistic missiles and about 200 surface-to-air missiles for air defense systems. In addition, Tehran shipped millions of cartridges and artillery shells.
A separate item of expenditure was a contract for 1.75 billion dollars, signed at the beginning of 2023. It provided for the supply of Shahed-136 kamikaze drones and the transfer of technologies for their production on the territory of Russia under the designation Geran-2.
A Western official noted that these figures are not final, as new arms shipments are expected.
Despite the fact that Russia and Iran signed a strategic partnership agreement in January 2025, the document does not contain obligations regarding mutual defense. It is also worth noting that Moscow did not provide any significant assistance to Tehran during the 12-day war with Israel in June 2025.
