According to an anonymous Iranian official, indirect negotiations allow to evaluate the severity of Washington’s intentions on political settlement with Tehran. However, he warned that this path could be “stone”, and the negotiations can only be started if the US is supported by Iranian messages.

Literally: “Iran sent a warning to his neighbors: Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey and Bahrain that any support of the US in a possible military attack on Iran, including the use of their air space or territory to place the US military, will be regarded as an act of hostility.”

Details: Iran’s supreme leader Ayatol Ali Hamenei ordered the country’s armed forces to be in high combat readiness, the official emphasized.

Prehistory:

  • In early March, Trump stated that he had sent a letter to Supreme Leader Ayatoli Ali Hamenei with a proposal for Iranian nuclear program.
  • According to AXIOS sources, the letter of Trump to Hamenee was “rigid” and contained not only a proposal of negotiations on a new nuclear agreement, but also the consequences if Tehran rejects it.
  • On Sunday, March 30, Masud President Pesshkian said he rejects direct negotiations with the US on the Iranian nuclear program, which became the country’s first response to a letter sent by Trump to the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic.
  • On the same day, Trump stated that Iran would face unprecedented bombardment if he did not conclude an agreement with the United States to develop nuclear weapons.
  • French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro, on April 2, warned that in the event of the inability of the States to reach a new agreement with Iran on his nuclear program, the military confrontation seems “almost inevitable.”
