The Iranian minister believes that the parties “can reach an agreed framework for future negotiations” if the process continues in the same spirit.
He added that the discussion was limited to nuclear issues, which the Islamic Republic insists on, while US officials say it should include Iran’s missiles and Tehran’s support for regional militant groups.
“The topic of our talks is purely nuclear, and we are not discussing any other issues with the Americans,” Arakchi said.
American officials have not yet commented on the results of Friday’s negotiations.
Before the meeting, the US called on its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately.
US President Donald Trump also said that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should be “concerned” about the possibility of US strikes if the talks fail.
The talks began shortly after the US sent a large-scale flotilla to the region, and US President Donald Trump called on Tehran to immediately sit down for talks on Iran’s nuclear program.
It also became known that Trump asked his team to prepare options for quick actions against Iran, which would not turn into a long war in the Middle East.
