As of April 10, Ukrainian military sources report a significant increase in combat activities, with 148 clashes recorded since the start of the day. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detailed a series of aggressive actions by Russian forces, including 54 airstrikes and the deployment of over 5,300 drones.
The military update, released at 22:00 local time, indicated that Russian forces conducted 2,187 shelling attacks targeting both populated areas and Ukrainian military positions. Notably, there has been a marked escalation of assaults in the Sumy region.
In the North-Slobozhansky and Kursk directions, 12 confrontations occurred, three of which are ongoing. Russian artillery has reportedly shelled 121 locations, utilizing multiple rocket launch systems in 33 instances, alongside two airstrikes involving six guided bombs.
More than a third of the clashes have been concentrated in three key areas: Pokrovsk and Kostyantynivka in Donetsk, and Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian defense forces successfully repelled 17 enemy assaults in the vicinity of Kostyantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Stepaniivka, Ivanopillia, and Sofiivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 20 attacks, attempting to advance in several settlements including Bilytske, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Novooleksandrivka, Udačne, Ivanivka, Pokrovsk, Shevchenko, Hryshyne, Filiya, and Novoserhiyivka, with two clashes still ongoing.
Thirteen attacks were reported in the Huliaipole direction, targeting areas such as Dobropillia, Varvarivka, Bilohirya, Huliaipilske, Staroukrainka, Charivne, and Zaliznychne. Airstrikes were also noted in Vozdvizhenska, Vysokyi Ters, Charivne, and Rizdviana.
Additional fighting has been recorded in the South-Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Oleksandrivka, Orikhiv, and Dnipro directions.
Earlier this month, President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked that the current situation at the front is the most favorable for Ukraine in the past ten months, citing intelligence assessments from both Ukrainian and British sources obtained on April 1. He asserted that a planned Russian offensive for March was thwarted by the actions of Ukrainian forces.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian counterattacks in the Huliaipole and Oleksandrivka directions are disrupting Russian efforts in Pokrovsk and hindering the anticipated spring-summer offensive by Russian troops.
Russian forces began their offensive on Pokrovsk, a city with a pre-war population of approximately 60,000, in February 2024 following the capture of Avdiivka, located about 39 kilometers southeast of Pokrovsk.
The Ukrainian military reports a surge in combat activity with 148 clashes recorded on April 10. Russian forces have intensified their operations, conducting numerous airstrikes and drone attacks, particularly in the eastern regions, while Ukrainian defenses continue to resist these advances.
