Intense Fighting Reported on Multiple Fronts in Ukraine

On March 10, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported a significant escalation in combat activities, with 120 clashes occurring since the start of the day. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine detailed a series of airstrikes and drone attacks by Russian forces.

According to the report, Russian military operations included 69 airstrikes involving 192 guided bombs, alongside the deployment of 6,229 kamikaze drones and 2,896 artillery shellings targeting both populated areas and Ukrainian military positions.

Nearly half of the reported engagements took place across three key areas: Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka in Donetsk, and Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia. In the Kostiantynivka sector, Russian forces launched 19 assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions near the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiyivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Sofiivka, Novopavlivka, Rusynyi Yar, and Stepaniivka.

The Pokrovsk direction saw 16 attacks, with attempts to advance in the regions of Novyi Donbas, Rodynske, Myrnohrad, Shevchenko, Hryshyne, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, and Novopavlivka. One assault operation remains ongoing.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces conducted 18 attacks, targeting the settlements of Huliaipole, Zaliznychne, Huliaipilske, Zarichne, Varvarivka, Luhivske, Myrne, Hirkke, and Sviatopetrivka, with four attacks still in progress as of 10 PM.

Fighting also continued in the South Slobozhansky, Kupiansk, Lyman, Sloviansk, Oleksandrivka, and Orikhiv directions.

Earlier on the same day, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commented on the evolving nature of the front lines, stating that the concept of a ‘front edge’ has become blurred in the context of the current conflict. He noted that mutual infiltration zones for small infantry groups can extend over 10 kilometers in many areas.

“Despite the ongoing attempts by the enemy to penetrate deeper into our positions, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are maintaining established lines, and in certain segments of the front, they are conducting their own active offensive operations,” Syrskyi stated.

Vladimir Polovyi, head of communications for the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Air Assault Forces, confirmed on March 5 that Ukrainian troops remain stationed in the northern areas of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, describing these cities as among the hottest points along the frontline.

In contrast, the U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that there has been no evidence of Ukrainian military activity in Pokrovsk since late January, suggesting that Russian forces may have taken control of the entire city. However, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has not confirmed any such claims regarding the capture of Pokrovsk or the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the area.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported 120 clashes on March 10, with significant air and drone attacks by Russian forces. Key areas of fighting include Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Huliaipole, while the situation remains fluid with ongoing military operations.
