In Kyiv, the police detained an organized group that was selling diet pills containing the psychotropic sibutramine via the Internet. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison.
The National Police reported this on Monday, October 21.
According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the 25-year-old Kyivan organized a group of four people who sold pills through an online store and social networks. He ensured the arrival of goods, controlled packaging, sales and distributed the money earned.
Other participants were engaged in selling pills online, taking orders and sending them to customers throughout Ukraine, the police said.
Law enforcement officers together with SBU employees conducted a series of searches, during which they seized more than 30,000 pills, the approximate value of which according to prices ““black” market – more than 3.6 million hryvnias.
The suspects are charged with particularly serious crimes related to illegal trafficking of psychotropic substances.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention, with a possible punishment of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
