Ukrainian engineers are creating a new Trembita missile that will be able to reach the capital of Russia, Moscow. The development is already in the final stage of testing, and serial production will begin after the completion of field tests, writes The Ecomomist.

The Trembits are said to be a modern cruise missile that uses a remake of the pulse jet engine first used on the German V-1 bomb in 1944. The basic model flies at a speed of 400 km/h and has a flight range of 200 km. A larger and more powerful model of the rocket is being developed, which will be able to reach Moscow.

The publication adds that it took engineers only a year and a half to achieve such a result.

“It is not known how long Ukraine can count on large-scale foreign military aid. Therefore, “Trembita” is one of several rocket projects that the country hopes to bring about the revival of domestic industry,” the article says.

The missile costs only $3,000 as a decoy and $15,000 with a 20-30 kg warhead. Low cost can become a decisive factor in Ukrainian operations aimed at exhausting the enemy’s air defenses. However, an unnamed official told The Economist that it would take at least a year for the country to produce missiles of a quantity, range and capability that would seriously threaten Russia.

On August 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the first time showed the newest Ukrainian long-range missile “Palyanytsia”, which entered mass production. Also, according to the president, successful tests of the new Ruta missile are ongoing, and the first combat use of the Peklo drone missile was successfully completed, the first batch of which was handed over to the Defense Forces.

On November 19, Zelensky announced that next year, at least 30,000 long-range drones will be produced in Ukraine at Ukrainian technological facilities. Also, according to him, the task has been set to make no less than 3 thousand cruise missiles and drone missiles.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukraine has been trying to increase its own production of weapons, partly producing them together with partners.
