“It is very unlikely that Kellog’s statement will have some consequences and affect the course of the peace process. After all, as far as it is clear from its statements, the United States is ready to give Russia oral promises that will not have legally binding power,” Chernev said.
According to the deputy, the Kremlin has always emphasized that he needed written guarantees in the form of official international legally binding documents. However, Chernev is convinced, no one will give such guarantees.
The adoption of such a decision, noted by the People’s Deputy, would be contrary to the NATO Statute and the decision of the previous summits.
“Secondly, this would mean the official recognition of Russia’s veto to make decisions by the Alliance. Thirdly, such a decision could not be made by NATO itself because of the position of many countries that unconditionally support us on the journey. Therefore, no official NATO decisions will be made on this,” Cherniv is said.
He noted that Vladimir Putin can be satisfied with oral guarantees and promises only if he needs to get a break for several years to accumulate forces for a recurrent war.
As it was reported, the Kremlin was happy with the statement of the US Presidential Special Support on Ukraine Kelloga that the United States is ready to discuss the non -extension of NATO, which the Russian Federation insists.
