On Monday, January 6, electricity consumption, as of 9:30 a.m., “was 5.6% higher than at the same time of the previous working day – on Friday, January 3,” according to the press service of Ukrenergo.

“This is explained by the decrease in temperature in most regions, compared to the end of last week,” say energy experts.

Ukrenergo reminded that “the Ukrainian energy system continues to recover after thirteen massive missile and drone attacks by the Russians during the past year. Emergency and recovery works at power facilities are ongoing. Energy workers are doing everything possible to return damaged equipment to work as soon as possible and to replace equipment destroyed by the enemy.”

“Yesterday, January 5, the daily maximum consumption was recorded in the evening. It was at the same level as the previous day off – Saturday, January 4,” the energy experts noted.

During the night and morning of December 25, Ukraine was subjected to a massive air attack by the Russian Federation. According to the Air Force, Russia then launched 78 missiles and 106 attack drones of various types over Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Energy, since October 2022, Russia has carried out more than a thousand strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, this year alone 9 GW of generating capacity was lost due to strikes.
