According to them, Grok began creating images of women and children in revealing clothes and in humiliating sexualized poses, which is against the platforms’ rules.
In the letter, the senators emphasized that Google prohibits content that “contributes to the exploitation or abuse of children,” and Apple prohibits “sexual or pornographic material.”
The senators noted that in the past, both tech giants have responded quickly to breaches by removing apps from their platforms.
“To turn a blind eye to X’s outrageous behavior would be to flout your moderation practices,” the document reads.
What happened before:
- Grok, the built-in AI chatbot on billionaire Elon Musk’s X social network, recently came under investigation for a “spicy mode” that allows users to create sexually suggestive images.
- On January 8, it was revealed that the European Commission had ordered X to store all internal documents and data related to its built-in artificial intelligence chatbot Grok until the end of 2026.
- They also wrote that the German Ministry of Justice plans to introduce measures in the near future that will allow the authorities to more effectively fight the use of artificial intelligence to manipulate images that violate people’s personal rights.
