According to the results of the World Cup in 2025, the winners of 83 licenses for games will be determined: 24 in every single discipline, 16 – in sports couples and 19 – in ice dances.
Unlike the World Cup, where countries can receive more than one license, depending on their skaters’ places, qualifying competitions in the country can receive only one place in each discipline, regardless of the rating. If the country refuses to use one or more of its skilled places, what is released is awarded by ISU competitions in the order of decreasing order.
For the team tournament, which is not available on the World Cup but will be presented at the Olympics, the results of the World Cup-2025 and the Grand Prix-2025/26 season will be calculated. By their results, the top ten participating countries will be identified. Each country will score points by performing its best athletes in each of four disciplines. The Grand Prix finals in December 2025 will be the last tournament, which will finally determine the list of participants in the team tournament.
The International Skating Union (ISU) decided that “neutral” skaters from Russia and Belarus can qualify as individual neutral athletes (AIN), and only in Beijing qualification competitions. Accordingly, they will not be able to participate in the World Cup, but will be able to claim one quota in each discipline. They will also not have the right to participate in the Olympiad team tournament.
