“The pause in providing financial assistance to Ukraine against Putin’s aggression is unscrupulous in itself, but the idea that we will now retain vital intelligence information from Ukrainians who are fighting and die is difficult. Any pause in the exchange of intelligence must be stopped immediately, ”the statement stated.
The Congressman stressed that this intelligence information saved the lives of Ukrainians.
“As a member of the Intelligence Committee, I observed how important our relations with Ukrainian intelligence partners were to maintain defense against the steady and cruel offensive of Russia. This saved the lives of both Ukrainian servicemen and civilians, ”the message reads.
The day before, national security adviser Mike Voltz and CIA Director John Retcliffe publicly acknowledged that President Trump’s pause includes the exchange of intelligence.
According to the CIA director, the pause “On the Military Front and the Intelligence Front” is temporary, and the United States will “work side by side with Ukraine” again. He did not declare the possible timing of resumption of assistance.
This decision of the US administration became known after the media wrote that US President Donald Trump ordered to suspend Ukraine’s military support after a public dispute with President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky in the Oval Office.
On March 4, the British Daily Mail wrote that the United Kingdom has also received a demand from the US authorities to stop supplying Ukraine from the United States. At the same time, the cooperation of American and British intelligence continues.
Sky News journalist Debora Heins, citing the words of the Ukrainian source, called the stop transfer of the intelligence “selective”. According to her, the prohibition applies only to information on possible military goals for the Armed Forces in the Russian territory, but not in the territory of Ukraine itself.
At the same time, The Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed US official, writes that the termination of intelligence exchange applies not only to targeting the Russian troops, but also by the data on prevention on possible launchers and missiles in Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump during his address to Congress on March 4 (March 5, Kyiv time) stated that he was working tirelessly on the termination of the war and received a message from President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky about his readiness to “sit at the negotiation table as soon as possible to bring a strong peace.” The US leader added that in parallel he was receiving signals from Russia: “We have made serious discussions with Russia and received strong signals that they are ready for peace.” He did not mention the help of assistance to Ukraine.
On March 4, Zelensky published a message on the social network X, in which he stressed that Ukraine seeks peace and is ready to work with US President Donald Trump.
