In the south of Odesa, a new mode of operation of checkpoints will be introduced, which will facilitate the movement of residents of Izmail and Reni, said the Deputy Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine – Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba during a conversation with journalists.

“The situation is divided between those who stayed in Izmail and Reni and their logistics to Odesa are complicated,” said Kuleba.

According to him, to facilitate movement, you can use the checkpoint with Moldova. Three checkpoints – Kelmentsi, Bronnytsia and Vashkivtsi – began to allow buses, which “enables to organize transportation more flexibly.”

“We have agreed on a flexible approach – two checkpoints that previously worked only for passenger cars will now be available for cargo transportation as well,” the deputy prime minister added.

Kuleba specified that seven main checkpoints with Moldova are currently operating, and three more checkpoints, which previously served only passenger cars, have now begun to allow buses – PP “Kelmentsi”, “Bronnytsia” and “Vashkivtsi”.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that valid permits are sufficient to cross the border, additional documents are not required.

Previously, checkpoints in the south of Odesa region served only passenger vehicles, which made it difficult to deliver goods and move citizens. Now the new rules ensure stable logistics, reduce the burden on Odessa and open up additional opportunities for bus and freight transportation.

On the evening of December 18, Russia attacked with drones the bridge across the Dniester near Mayaki, which is the key route between Odessa and Moldova. Checkpoints in the Palanka area are partially operational, traffic to Odesa was diverted through other borders, which caused long delays. The Odesa-Reni route was closed.

Subsequently, it became known that transport connections were restored in Odesa after the Russian shelling on the bridge near the village of Mayaki, it is working normally, Viktor Mykyta, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said on the air of the telethon.

According to the official, there will be no logistical collapse – all goods are delivered, ATMs, banks and state institutions are working. There are some inconveniences, but very minor.
