The South Sakhaln Garrison Military Court sentenced up to 15 years in prison in the colony of the strict regime of Sakhalin Roman Ivanyshyn. He was found guilty of the articles about being captured, another attempt to capture and desertion, said the Kommersant newspaper on April 15, citing a source. According to the court of Ivanyshyn, the junior sergeant was deprived of the military rank.

During the debate of the parties, the state prosecutor requested to appoint Ivanyshyn for 16 years of imprisonment. The defense asked to justify the defendant, insisting that the crimes that were charged with him were not proven. Ivanyshyn did not admit guilt.

Roman Ivanyshyn is a mountain master of Sakhalin. He was in the army on mobilization. He served in the 39th Separate Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade in Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine. Ivanyshyn got to Ukrainian captivity on June 10, 2023 in the area of ​​the village of Stepne near Volnovakha, told the military himself on a video widespread on the Internet. In the same video, Ivanyshyn opposed the war and called on other Russian military flee from his units.

Ivanyshyn returned to Russia in January 2024 as a part of a group of 248 Russian soldiers, which was exchanged for prisoners of Ukrainians. In Russia, Ivanyshyn was under investigation. Initially, the military court in South-Sakhalin refused to consider his case, sending the materials to Moscow, but they were returned to the Far East.

The trial of Ivanyshyn began on March 17, about 15 meetings took place. According to the newspaper, the plot of accusations and defense theses did not reveal.

This is the first well -known criminal case of voluntary submission to the Armed Forces, which was approved by the sentence, said Kommersant. The relevant article 352.1 appeared in the Russian Criminal Code in 2022, shortly after the start of a full -scale invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.
