In the Pokrovsky direction, Russian troops carried out 70 assault and offensive actions during the day – General Staff

At the front, since the beginning of the day, 153 combat clashes have taken place, almost half of them – in the Pokrovsky direction, according to the data of the Ukrainian General Staff as of 22:00.

“The enemy is intensively attacking the Ukrainian defenders in the Pokrovsky direction. Here, during the day, the aggressor carried out 70 assault and offensive actions. The Russian occupiers are most active in the areas of Vodyanyi Drugy, Myrolyubivka, Elizavetivka, Promeny, Zeleny, Udachny, Kotlyny, Nadiivka, Uspenivka, Andriivka, Shevchenko, Dachny, and Yantarny. “Six hostilities continue until now,” the message reads.

Combat clashes were also recorded in the Kharkiv, Kupyan, Lyman, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Novopavliv, Orihiv, Dnieper directions and in Kurshchyna in the Russian Federation.

“The enemy carried out 31 airstrikes, using 41 anti-aircraft missiles, almost seven hundred kamikaze drone strikes and carried out almost 4,000 attacks on the positions of our troops and population centers using various types of weapons,” the message says.

Earlier today, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that he “ordered to strengthen the command structure of the troops in Donetsk region” and sent Major General Mykhailo Drapatoy, the commander of the Ground Forces, to lead the operational-strategic group of troops “Khortytsia”. “These are the most brutal areas of fighting,” Zelenskyi said.

Viktor Tregubov, spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of troops, said on Radio Svoboda on January 20 that Russian troops are bypassing Pokrovsk from the west, trying to encircle it. The next day, January 21, Tregubov said on the air of the telethon that the offensive of the Russian army is slowing down, and “we hope that it will eventually stop.”
