“During monitoring in the city district of Kerch, in the area of ββthe city beach (Arshintsevska spit), minor pollution of a sandy area 1.8 kilometers long was detected. In the Leninsky District near Tobechyk Lake, the total extent of pollution is 2.1 kilometers,” the message reads.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, about 150 people and 48 pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the consequences of the environmental disaster.

Oil products were spilled as a result of the tanker disaster. According to Russian mass media, Volgoneft-212 was transporting 4,300 tons of fuel oil. Russian Telegram channels claim that approximately the same amount of petroleum products was on board “Volgonefta-239”.
Due to the accident, a state of emergency was introduced in the Krasnodar Territory. Before that, since December 17, the state of emergency at the municipal level was in effect in Anapa and the Temryut district of Russia. On December 21, after oil products reached the shores of the occupied Crimea, a state of emergency was introduced in Kerch as well.
On December 27, it became known that the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, introduced a state of emergency of federal (i.e. national) importance due to the spill of fuel oil in the Black Sea after the accident of two tankers.
