In the occupied Crimea, veterans of Russian military intelligence have created a club “Griffin”, where children aged 7 to 17 are taught “basics of military training”, writes the American Institute of War Study (ISW).

“Russian veterans and real servicemen will teach children, in accordance with the doctrine of preparation of the Main Directorate of the Special Forces of the General Staff of the Russian Federation (GRU), the Soviet Committee of State Security (KGB), the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR (NKVD) and the Soviet (Soviet counterintelligence).

The authors of the report suggest that Griffon instructors will teach children to recognize pro -Ukrainian sentiment in their communities and convey about them to the Russian authorities.

“Programs, such as Griffin, prepare Ukrainian children for service in the Russian army. Russia uses these military-patriotic educational clubs and programs to create a reserve forces that can be mobilized for future conflicts, which is a direct violation of Article 51 of the Geneva Convention, ”analysts said.

According to the Almena Civil Education Center, there were 260 cadet classes in the occupied Crimea, and at the end of the last academic year there were 197. In general, military affairs in the schools of the peninsula study 6265 children.
