“The investigation found that at the end of 2024 the said vessel – a dry cargo – delivered about five thousand tons of Ukrainian wheat from the port of Sevastopol, illegally exported from the temporarily occupied part of the south of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The SSSU noted that the vessel went under the flag of one of the Asian states to mask the origin of cargo.
This method of action is characteristic of the so -called “shadow fleet” of Russia, which is used for illegal export of Ukrainian resources, the border guards noted.
“In the course of the search, navigation equipment, ship documentation and other material evidence were removed, confirming the participation of the vessel and the crew in the scheme of illegal transportation. The ship has now been arrested, the crew has been delivered for further procedural actions. There is a pre -trial investigation aimed at documenting violations of the legislation and the establishment of persons involved in the organization of illegal activity, ”the message reads.
The SSSU said that the joint operation was conducted by employees of the operational units of the Maritime Protection of the State Border Guard and the Security Service of Ukraine, and the detention took place within the limits of comprehensive measures to combat Russia’s economic crimes.
Since the beginning of a full -scale war against Ukraine, Russia has intensified the use of port infrastructure of Crimea, despite international sanctions and official closure of the Ukrainian ports of the peninsula for international navigation.
According to the Radio Liberty Project, the Reality, the Kerch Sea Port is actively involved in gray exports – in particular, Ukrainian grain and liquefied gas, which is contrary to international law. The ports of Sevastopol, Kerch and Theodosius are also used for transshipment of strategic cargoes, including ilmenite for Crimean Titan and petroleum products.
Thus, Russia continues to use the infrastructure of Crimean ports as a logistics and economic resource for war and occupation policy, contrary to international norms and sanctions.
