In St. Petersburg the priest was arrested for a photo of 2014 with the flag of Ukraine

In the Russian St. Petersburg, an Orthodox priest Mykola Savchenko was arrested for 14 days, reported in the organization “Christians against the war” with reference to the words of Klirik himself. According to these data, Savchenko was taken to the police from the church and subsequently taken to court.

The reason for the administrative business, as noted, was a photo published in the Russian social network “VKontakte” in 2014. On it Savchenko stands on Central in St. Petersburg Nevsky avenue with a small flag of Ukraine.

The photo describes the Bible quote: “So the Lord says,” Do not go or start war with your brothers, “gives details of Astra. The flag, which Savchenko held in his hands, considered the court a demonstration of the symbolism of the OUN (organization of Ukrainian nationalists). In September 2022, the Supreme Court of Russia recognized this organization with extremist.

The telegram-channel of the support of the St. Petersburg anti-war activist Olga Smirnova emphasizes that Savchenko “blame not just a Ukrainian flag, but a flag with a trident symbol, which is often referred to as the OUN’s prohibited symbolism.”
