In the Russian city of St. Petersburg, Polish ambassador Krzysztof Krajewski was attacked when he arrived in the city for a meeting with local Poles.

Details: According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Maciej Wewior, the attack on Krajewski took place on Sunday, November 16.

According to the Polish newspaper, this happened when the ambassador arrived in the Russian city to meet with local Poles on the occasion of Polish Independence Day.

Around noon, when he was accompanied by the consul on his way to a Polish religious service at the Basilica of St. Catherine of Alexandria, he was surrounded by an aggressive group of Russian “activists.”

It is noted that they carried posters with anti-Polish and anti-Ukrainian slogans and attacked the ambassador for the fact that Poland helps Ukraine.

“At first it was verbal insults, but then there was a clear attempt to use physical force. Then the ambassador’s bodyguards intervened,” Vevior said.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland noted that the diplomat was not seriously injured.
