In Russia, a single shipbuilding plant is burning

In the capital of the Russian region, Karelius Petrozavodsk is burning the building of the Uzhiv shipbuilding and vessel repair plant. According to the authorities, three people were injured.

The fire began on April 3 around 10:00 in Moscow time (now coincides with Kiev), the Ministry of Emergencies reported. The fire area is 1500 square meters. The fire extinguish 60 people and 20 pieces of equipment.

The employees of the enterprise reported Karelinform that the fire occurred in a new shop at number 4, there was an explosion. The source of the State Agency “RIA Novosti” called the preliminary cause of the fire explosion. Officially, the cause of the fire is not named.

In January 2025, the Onezian plant opened the first digital shipyard in the country. The project envisages the introduction of digital support for the construction of vessels, robotization and automation of production processes with the increase in the number of vessels built. The ceremony was attended by Vladimir Putin’s assistant Mykola Patrushev and other officials. The estimate of the project amounted to 2.2 billion rubles.
