“In Yekaterinburg, the court sentenced a 65-year-old native of Ukraine, Mykhailo Tymkiv, to three years in a settlement colony on charges of “calling for extremism” and “justifying terrorism”, despite the lack of audio or video evidence”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
A criminal case was opened against Tymkiv for phrases uttered during his treatment at the Akhmanka sanatorium in the Tyumen region. It is claimed that on May 9, 2022, in a state of intoxication, he allegedly said that the Russians should be “let to the meat.” In addition, while staying in the same sanatorium from June 1 to June 18, 2025, he allegedly approved the blowing up of the Crimean bridge and Operation Web, and also predicted the rapid collapse of Russia.
13 people from the staff and patients of the sanatorium gave testimony against Tymkiv. The defense pointed out in the debate that there is no audio or video recording in the case that supports the prosecution’s position. Tymkiv himself insisted in court that he was slandered.
Mykhailo Tymkiv said that he graduated from the Oil and Gas Institute in 1986, after which he cooperated with the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, and since 1993 he has been engaged in maintenance of oil and gas facilities in Novy Urengoy. He stated that in the event of a guilty verdict, he “will not have access.”
