- Before that, the Poltava city authorities agreed to dismantle and transfer the two monuments of Peter I – on the territory of the Museum of the Poltava Battle and at the site of its rest near the Spassky Church. They will also remove the plaque on the monument of Kelin’s commandant and the defenders of Poltava.
- On October 18, 2024, the Parliamentary Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy held an on -site meeting in Poltava. At that time, the city was also visited by Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications Mykola Tochitsky.
- Within a few weeks, the Committee recommended the Ministry of Culture to review the status of Poltava structures of Russian Tsar Peter I and the victory of the Russians in the Battle of Poltava in 1709. And the city authorities – to dismantle these monuments after. Deadline was established – March 1, 2025.
- On January 31, 2025, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications excluded 15 Poltava cultural heritage objects from the State Register of Real Estate. These are monuments related to the events of the Battle of Poltava and the imperial history of the city.
