“Power engineers were able to restore electricity supply to more than 184,000 consumers and critical infrastructure facilities in Odesa and the region”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
According to reports, over the weekend Odesa was subjected to one of the most massive attacks – the forces of the Russian Federation targeted electricity distribution and transmission facilities, in particular, the substations of the NEC “Ukrenergo”. Consumers in Odesa, Mykolaiv Oblast and Kherson Oblast remained temporarily without electricity supply.
The Ministry of Energy adds that the situation in Ukraine’s energy system remains difficult, but under control. Every day, the RF troops attack electricity generation, transmission and distribution facilities, primarily in the border and frontline regions.
Due to damage to the energy infrastructure in some regions of Ukraine, hourly blackout schedules continue to operate. In general, the situation in the country, except for the southern regions, is gradually improving, the ministry adds.
On the night of December 14, the Russian military carried out a massive drone attack in Odesa. According to local authorities, there was damage to energy, transport, industrial and civil infrastructure facilities. Invincibility points were deployed to help the population. Critical infrastructure ran on generators.
Oleg Kiper, head of OVA, reported today that as of 9:00 a.m., almost all critical infrastructure facilities have been restored.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Russia has been striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Beginning in the fall of 2025, the Russian military intensified its attacks on the Ukrainian energy and gas infrastructure, which supplies people with gas during the heating season.
In Ukraine, due to damage to energy facilities as a result of Russian shelling, hourly blackout schedules and capacity limitation schedules are applied for industrial consumers and businesses.
