According to the police security service of Norway, the detainee worked as a security guard at the US embassy in Oslo. Law enforcement officers conducted a large-scale investigation and seized significant amounts of digital data.

It is preliminarily established that the man could pass on information that poses a threat to the interests of American security. At the moment, it is not known exactly what data was transferred and what consequences it could cause.

In addition, the defendant was engaged in security business in Norway. The company’s page in the digital archive states that the organization offers security services for diplomatic missions, including the US embassy.

At the same time, the investigators found that at the time of the arrest, the company registered in the name of the suspect was operating without income and expenses, and he received about 200 thousand Norwegian kroner in 2022, which in conversion is about 18 thousand dollars.

The detained man was charged with collecting information that could harm the security of other states, he faces up to 10 years in prison. In addition, he is suspected of other illegal activities that may harm the interests of third countries. This crime is punishable by up to three years of imprisonment.

The suspect has pleaded not guilty but agreed to be held in custody for four weeks. The prosecuting party must prove whether the information collected by him really falls under the provisions of the Criminal Code.
