On September 1, security forces in Khmelnytskyi detained a 52-year-old resident of Lviv Mikhail Scelnikov. On September 2, he was elected a pre -trial detention measure for 60 days without bail.
Scelnikov talked to journalists before the meeting and pleaded guilty to the murder. He called the motive of his actions “personal revenge to the Ukrainian authorities.” At the same time, the suspect stated that the information in the media that he was blackmailed by Russian special services was not true, and he did not cooperate with them. He has not commented a new suspicion of the case.
On October 3, the Security Service of Ukraine stated that she gathered “unquestionable evidence”, which testify that the suspect in the murder of the People’s Deputy, the former chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Andrey Parubiy, acted on the order of Russian special services. He was informed another suspicion: in the state treason, he was stated in the SBU.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the murder case was investigated under articles on illegal handling of weapons and the encroachment on the life of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, committed in connection with his state or public activity.
Although the suspect has orally confessed to the murder, he has not yet found the weapons he fired.
