“Part of the Zaliznychny and Shevchenkiv districts remained without water”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
Work to eliminate the accident continues.
“Now about 50,000 Lviv residents are without water, which is 10% of the city. In particular, part of the Zaliznychny and Shevchenkiv districts… Water trucks deliver drinking water to people – their work has been continued until the system is fully restored,” the mayor’s office said in a statement.
The city council explains that after emptying the pipes, water fills the network again under pressure, because of this, water hammers and new breaks occur in old pipes – “the system “breaks” in the weakest places.”
In the morning, the local authorities reported that the accident at the water main was being eliminated for the second night in a row. “Lvivvodokanal” crews were replacing the damaged section of the pipe, which is already more than 70 years old. It was announced that water will start to be provided approximately from 15:00.
